I was planning on going with a vocaloid pink zentai group to my next con (its ages away really.) with me as Kaito, and I wanted to do something musical to kind of go with the costume (we are going to do a vocaloid skit that contains no singing, just a comedy thing). Anyway I recently remembered this thing I made in high school metal work class; it’s basically an Amp mount, it’s a metal frame backpack that I made to hold your 15-26W guitar amp onto your back, with a portable battery. so basically it allows you to move and play guitar at the same time (I used to use it to red zentai add theme music to random at the park and generally annoy them… don’t ask me why, it was hilarious. if I where to wander around a con with this, (playing mostly anime op’s or guitar adoptions of some well know Japanese songs) would you guys think that was annoying? I mean, I’m not obnoxious enough to crank the volume up to ear bleeding levels, just loud enough to be heard really.
I just plan to go in and start playing music at specific people. Like if I see an ash kechum I would play the pokemon theme song, if I saw a naruto I’d play Rising Fighting Spirit, if I saw a Flanders Scarlet id play UN Owen Was Her, or something like that. Wouldn’t just walk around Green Lantern Zentai jamming, that’d kind of be a dick move. I’ve been in the gig circuit for a fair few years now, I’m confident in my skills and I know how devastating it is to see songs brutalized (its why I’m running this past you guys now, as I’ve still got, like, 6 months until the con). If I couldn’t play a song anyway I would be way too embarrassed to break it out by myself in front of a group of strangers. So the fact of whether I can play it or not really isn’t the issue here.

So here the thing, my mom is uncomfortable with me wearing Cassandra’s later zentai suit , so to compromise we are slightly altering the bottom so that the front closer resembles a skirt. Anyways, our plans are to create a layer about 10-18 inches in the front so that it covers more. We are going to edge it with the gold and pleat it so it is kind of sticks with the style. If you saw someone at a con with this simple modification would you be upset or would you understand? Or would you just not know it? Just wondering.
There’s nothing wrong with altering a black spandex bodysuit for modesty. I’d much rather see someone who has altered their costume for this exact reason than someone who hasn’t at a family friendly con – who is wearing a very revealing outfit. But practicality is the best, uncomfortable in something? Modify it. Some people may put up with their costume and not modify it at all, but I know of many people who modify their costumes for various reasons. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with modifying a cosplay for comfort. Cosplay is about having fun- if you feel like you’ll be uncomfortable in a cosplay to the point that it will hinder your ability to have fun, then by all means, you should modify it. I don’t think anyone will mind. It should be fun to get creative with the cosplay! Comfort should come first and foremost when making a cosplay, so don’t feel guilty. Nobody usually notices anyway.
I personally think just keeping your tails long in the back, the front a little longer, and wearing proper dance black lycra bodysuit or spankies should be fine. However I am a dancer and used to tights and a leotard. If I saw a Cassandra with a gold skirt I’d do a double take and probably wonder why the person is doing that, but beyond that I really wouldn’t care.

A lot of my zentai cosplays are characters from H-games and DatingSims. Not necessarily all hentai-based and H-game cosplays are revealing– most of them are just school uniforms from the series, but the fact that they’re from a hentai may cause some viewers form some sort of derogatory opionion on them. What about you guys? And also, what about the cosplays that ARE revealing (Hentai or not)? I hear some find these types of cosplay silver zentai the idea of cosplay. Some people will say that cosplay was meant to be enjoyable whether it is revealing or not. I don’t have any revealing cosplay zentai suits, but I have friends that do. I wonder how other people feel about them. Is it a nice body that makes it okay, or is it just not appropriate?
I see cosplay the same as costuming on the silver screen. Cosplay is just usually fan-made. I agree with the others – as long as the purpose is not derogatory. For example, I find the seifuku from SHUFFLE! and AIR cute, as well as the costumes from Utawarerumono and Fate/Stay Night, even though they were all based on h-games. That doesn’t necessarily make me a bad person, right? have yet to have cosplay from hentai yet, but i’ve found many yellow zentai suit i’d love to make such as the bible black uniform, and an outfit from a hentai called beat angel escalayer, I think the outfits are really creatively designed and are super cute. Though my bf doesn’t like the idea of me running around in a costume from a hentai. Like others have said, it’s just like any other cosplay someone would do, i see NO difference.
As long as some (if not all) of your clothes are on, and it’s enough that it’s legally ok, then I guess it’s fine to dress as a Rena’s character. Dating sim characters are pretty much the same as normal (understated) anime characters, so I see nothing wrong with it. No offense with this statement: Though I was thinking you meant that you were the tentacle monster I happen to see at conventions…
